Shipping-Delta and UPS There are two major shippers that we depend on and trust to transport our animals to our customers. Those two shippers are Delta Airlines and the United Parcel Service. Delta Airlines Air Cargo Delta Airlines Air Cargo is, in our opinion, the best airline for shipping live animals. They are basically the industry standard for shipping live cargo. There are two primary methods in which we ship with Delta... Delta Dash and Delta Priority One. Delta Dash shipments are pre-booked on flights. Shipments must be one piece and weigh less than fifty (50) pounds. We have secured up to eight (8) of our standard shipping boxes together to result in one (1) Delta Dash shipment. Delta Dash shipments can not be sent C.O.D., and the freight must be pre-paid. Delta Priority One shipments are more flexible. Shipments can be multiple pieces and the freight can be paid by the receiver. Shipments sent via Delta Airlines must be picked up directly at the airport. It is always wise to telephone ahead to make sure that the shipment is arriving on schedule and to relay any special storage recommendations to the Air Cargo Representatives. United Parcel Service The United Parcel Service (UPS) moves packages to their final destination faster than anyone else that we know. We ship most of our animals UPS Next Day Air. In most instances, the shipments leave our facility at 5:00 P.M. and reach their destination by 10:30 A.M. the next morning. We have made arrangements with UPS to be their last pick-up of the day. In doing this the animals have to spend the least amount of time possible in transit. The obvious advantage of using UPS is that they deliver right to your door. The disadvantage is that when you need more than two (2) boxes of product shipped it becomes a bit pricey. It is also very important that you are at the receiving address and have the proper method of payment ready for the driver when he or she arrives. Another disadvantage is that several facets of the UPS delivery system are not temperature controlled. Not to worry, we have over 17 years experience utilizing heat and cold packs when necessary. Their main distribution hub is in Louisville, KY which has to be taken into account when calculating temperature extremes. In conclusion, we have excellent results using UPS as one our our main shippers and have no problem recommending them. In Conclusion Then again, there are times that things don't go as planned and we don't get our UPS orders packed and processed by 5:00 P.M.. We then have to race them 30 miles to the UPS station ourselves. Who was it who said, "Neither, rain, nor hail, or tourists and retirees..."? Just like Delta and UPS, we will try to do whatever it takes to get your shipment to you the quickest and safest way possible. If you have any specific questions concerning shipping feel free to give us a call. We will be happy to explain to you the various options and costs associated with getting you an order as quickly and safely as possible.
